James

But the wisdom from above – Part 1

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy — James 3: 13- 17

What is the outward expression and character of the wisdom from above?….

Wisdom is often burdened by the demand to express its endowments. The world, full of many troubles constantly draws out-tossing and turning – the character of wisdom. What do we see then? When the substance of wisdom’s expression is made manifest before our eyes?

Let us turn for a moment to the wisdom we see displayed by the world’s philosophy…Is the same not full of selfish ambitions and bridled by evil intent?…Is the same not impure…and fuelled by envy?

Look at the wisdom of the world today that denies the Creator and seeks to extol Chaos and Chance as the architects of nature’s marvellous design. See the folly of the world’s bastions of reason who short circuit themselves in their pursuit of Truth by claiming “a priori” that the natural physical order is all there is…

See the wisdom of the world displayed in its penchant for instruments of destruction, its denigration of the Word and Philosophy of God…its belittling of and making travesty of the holiness of the human body and the universal law to seek God and obey Him fully…this is the world’s wisdom displayed in its philosophy and actions…impure! Unreasonable! Proud!
