What is the conclusion then?
We see that faith always works.
We see that faith distilled from the Word of God always propels the possessor to act consistent with its vitalising power.
We see that faith that does not act on the sure Word of God is dead…lacking true power to effect change. But faith that is alive leaps always into action at the revelation of the Masters Word.
James 2:19-26 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
At the new birth, we believed into the Lordship and Kingdom of Jesus Christ and were propelled by this faith of Christ to jettison the world and self, and declare unwavering fealty to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believed in our heart and made confession with our mouth….our faith bedrocked upon the proclamation of the gospel of Grace produced the work of total surrender in our confessions of the Lord Jesus Christ. We did the work of faith…we believed into His Lordship…and that living faith birthed and made perfect in us, the reality of the new birth by the Spirit.
Now, we continue in the same light. We believe unto action. We lay a hold on His promises and posture ourselves to think, talk and function accordingly. This is our faith that acts….that makes us doers of His Word! Glory!
For the works of righteousness shall be made perfect in them who belong to the household of faith…Selah
Now we know, it is not enough to “just believe”….the devils believe and know God is. The crux here is the response of a man to the reality of God and His Word. The devil knows and believes but remains a renegade. We know and believe and act out our faith by rendering complete obedience to the Divine Oracles. We walk with God. We obey His Word. We are doers of His Word in righteousness. For we reckon that faith cannot truly be alive if it does not prove itself in its expressions and actions.
Shall we not continue in this path?
O let us never relent!
For our faith shall produce the glorious fruits of righteous works in us, through us and by us…therein is unveiled the perfection of our faith.
For as the body without the spirit is dead, “so faith without works is dead also.”
