1 John · Exegesis of Light

For there are three witnesses…[Pt. 1]

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. — 1 John 5:7 (NKJV)

Our heavenly witnesses

O how wonderful it is for us to know that we have heavenly witnesses who testify of our calling and position in Christ….

We see in our scripture text for today that we have on record the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit who testify of the reality that we are now the over-comers in Christ…we are now the vessels that display His Wisdom, Power and Grace!

For the Father declared of Jesus, “that any who believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!” — John 3:16. The father was the same who declared at the resurrection of Jesus, “You are my Son, this day have I begotten you”…the same declaration made of the new creation the day he got born again. The Father continues to speak and minister to us today the full load of His grace, Love and mercy to us. His supply is what has deluged our lives with light, joy and peace. He is our rest. He is our witness…testifying to the veracity of our new birth in Christ; declaring for all creation to hear “I am their Father, and they are my sons and daughters!” Glory to God!
Thank you Almighty Father!

And then we have also the witness of the Word! Glory to God!
For the Word is one with the Father…even the fullness of the Godhead. The Word is our surety and safeguard. It is the Word of Grace; the Word of Truth; the Word that builds us up into perfection and maturity in Christ. It is the Word that ministers assurance and certainty to our hearts, and makes us see the glory of perfections yet to be apprehended in Christ.

It is the same Word that keeps us from falling and preserves us unto kingdom agenda to the glory of God! Of the volumes that bear testimony and witness to our newness and position in Christ, the Word holds inexhaustible fountains. Glory to God!
Thank you, Mighty God for the testimony of the Word!

And then we turn to the omnipresent power of the Holy Spirit. He is the spirit of God, from God, in us! He speaks the same words as the Father! He ministers the same Word of Truth to us always. He ministers testimony to our hearts always, that “now are we born again and sons of God”… “now are we the over-comers of the heavenly kingdom of Light!” Glory!

These three, agree in one. They share the same testimony of us. They bear the same record. They declare of the new creation in Christ: “you are the over-comer!”
