How to discern the “other voices”?

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1 John 4:1-3

For the child of God keen on walking in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, there is need that he opens up himself to the voice of the Helper. There is need that he constantly walks fully conscious of his posturing in the world of the spirit…for the letters mean nothing and hold no power if they are not cloaked with and connected to and received embraced by the fire of the Holy Spirits presence.

It is this “opening up” by the child of God, that makes real the risk of being swayed by “other voices”. For the Arch Deceiver still exerts himself strenuously in his bid to poison the plainest truths of the Father’s word; he still makes it his objective to pose the question “did God really say”?

He still does not hold back from seeking to deceive the people of God by saying “you shall not surely die”- his principal weapon remains to attack the plainest word of truth and cause it to be colored grey in the eyes of the chosen people….so that utmost obedience is held back; fiery faith is dimmed to embers and hitherto brilliant and dazzling light is withdrawn more into the shadows of uncertainty.

The deceiver has not changed his methods. We are not ignorant of his devices!

In the light of this, it becomes crucial that every word of revelation awakened to…every prophetic utterance declared under the unction…every prompting in our heart by our heightened spiritual senses…be tried by the infallible standard of the written word.
