Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? Jeremiah 2:5
Have we not perceived the intrusion of the reign of vanity into Christendom today? Many seem to have made vanity their pursuit and have unconsciously committed to walking in its fleeting path and gainsay.
Many seem to be swayed by the vicissitudes of this life into this reign of vanity. We see this unveiled in our choices…self is exalted above the desires of our Lord and King. We see this in our thoughts…the pursuit of earthly treasures consume many. We see it demonstrated in our actions…many have come to find comfort and indeed identity in its brass trinkets.
Why does it seem that many have fallen into the vice of vanity?
Why have many chosen to be vain in the imagination of their hearts and in the pursuit and purpose of their being?
Why is it “that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?”
In the name of Jesus, shall we not see to it that the iniquity ceases and the pursuit of vanity dry out! Shall the people of God not remain true to the Kingdom of Light?!
