1 John

…only in sincerity, deed & truth!

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth – 1 John 3:18

How instructive for our time is this admonition declared forth here. For our generation and the times we live in is replete with the rank odor of hypocrisy…and the turncoat colors of lukewarmness…we seek to claim the higher virtuous expressions of love but betray our double standards in its most practical applications.

“Let us not love in word, neither in tongue”…let the flattery of the strange woman never be alluded to us. Let it never be that words uttered by our tongue suffice for a reckoning as mere “wind”…sounds of nothing; having no value beyond the effort taken to utter them.

Too many, in our generation, have taken to adorning themselves with the cloak of hypocrisy. They say one thing with seeming conviction and then refuse to keep their thoughts and actions consistent with the words uttered. These are like false cisterns…optical mirages in a desert….they look like an oasis but are indeed nothing but sand in an endless desert of sand. Let the child of God be removed from the numbers that make this kind. Let the child of God pay closest heed to the admonition “… let us not love in word, neither in tongue…”

But let us love in deed and in truth!
Let truth be our anchor. Let truth be the platform from which we launch out in all tangible expressions of Agape! In all earnestness of conviction, in all sincerity of purity…in all devoutness of holiness…let us not be blind to one another in the light of His Love. Let us truly see as He does and be moved only by the beautiful rhythms of agape!

Glory!
