1 John · Exegesis of Light

See how wonderful a love…!

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 1 John 3:1

God is Love.
His is the highest expression of Love.
To know God is to awaken to His love.
To awaken to His love is to be inundated with awe at its infinite dimensions. Such unconquerable heights…such soundless depths…such inexhaustible volumes!
The Father’s love for His children truly evokes the exclamation: what manner of love is this?!

Child of God, let us ponder in meditation on His Love; let our hearts be filled and overflow with the joy of His Love! See! See how He loves us! He calls us the apple of His eye…He has given us His Word and staked His throne to back it with all certainty. He has lifted us into His embrace and has whispered into our hearts…. “I will never let you go!”
Dear Father! How we love you! May this be our response to His Love. We love because He loves us! Selah

We are found in His love.
Behold! We are the children of God!
We have awakened to the Fatherhood of God.
We call Him Abba, Father!

In the light of this truth, it is not a curious thing if the world cannot acknowledge us.
The world cannot tell who we are in the light of Christ.
The world cannot see the halo of God’s love over us.
The world cannot see the spark of divinity in us. The world does not know us.

But we are known of the Father. We are His children; we belong to Him!
Dear child of God, do not ever doubt the love of the Father for you. Times may come that will test this foundation. You may stutter in your confession. You may limp a bit…even fall. You may forget for a while His Love…But when your dim eyes squint into the light; when your ears hear His Voice whisper; when your heart is stirred silently by His refreshing…at such a time rise up in the might of His Love! Rise up and prevail against all the odds! For we have on our side the mighty unstoppable force of His Love towards us!

Glory to God! What manner of Love this is!
