And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming – 1 John 2:28
I see here, further vital instruction into our proper posturing in this sojourn here on earth. He says “abide in Him”! Walk in His consciousness…be intimate in fellowship with His Spirit. To what end? What should motivate us to abide in Him? What should persuade us away from pursuing the vanities of the world, and live our utmost for His highest?
I see here the anchor to which all our hopes must be fixed…the river into which all tributaries of motivation must flow into…He says “that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed, before Him, at His coming”. Glory to God!
Ecce Venit! Behold He comes!
This is the uplifted gaze and spiritual posture that should propel us into obedience to all His Word. We long to see Him. We know He is coming soon.
Therefore, we gird ourselves with obedience to His Word…that when He appears, we may stand confident before Him!
Unashamed…for we have not betrayed His Word or bruised His Love.
Confident…for we have remained faithful to all His instruction. Selah.
O that we may stare into His eyes and be melted away in the fire of His Love.
O that we may be held in the truest embrace of love….and have Him put His lips closest to our ear and whisper…in that all conquering Voice!: “Well done…thou good and faithful servant!”
See how my heart pounds at the vision…see the hope of the Daystar light my countenance and fill my being with joy!….Christ in me! Indeed the hope of Glory!
Let us make certain our calling and election in Him. Let us, therefore abide in Him. Let us yearn to see Him face to face…soon! soon! We shall stand unashamed before Him because we have kept His Word and have the scars of obedience to our testimony.
