1 John

He set for us an example

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. [1 John 2:6]

To abide in Christ is to walk consistent with the light of His Word. It is to stay the gaze of your eyes on His Word alone. It is to remain un-distracted in His presence as the storms and vicissitudes of life weigh in their punches. Selah

The new creation is found in Christ, but it is not every new creation who abides in Christ. Herein is the importance of the instruction – to abide in Christ! It is a call to furnish our thoughts constantly with the consciousness of Christ. It is a call to walk in Christ consciousness. Glory to God!

I have found out that the reason we fall into fear and quake in uncertainty is because we forget our position, nature and endowments in Christ. We forget sometimes to remain steadfast in Him. Our thoughts leave His lofty heights sometimes and wander the dunghill of folly…that is when darkness springs surprise blows on us. But let us learn from each experience; let us resolve even more to abide in Him.

He is the Vine, we are the branches; we can’t do anything without Him. Let us be reminded by the Holy Spirit of this truth constantly….for it is He who tells us “this is the how to walk into and fulfill all His purposes…this is the How to please Him” Thank you Holy Spirit!

I have noticed in the gospel accounts…How the man Jesus…the last Adam walked. He did so in the light of the Word….in the consciousness of the Father and His supply….and in the constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He set for us an example. He has furnished us with ability to live that example.

Let us choose to abide in Him. God is our Helper!
Let us choose to walk as He did…loving righteousness and hating iniquity.
Thank you Holy Spirit for your ability that energizes us!

Glory to God!
