1 John · Exegesis of Light

We have an Advocate…a Helper [3]

My little children, these things I write to you, that you sin not. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. [1 John 2:1-2]

This is why the book of Hebrews declares to us “that we should have boldness to stand in the presence of the Father and receive grace in time of need”. How can we be bold in the Father’s presence if He is angry with us?! Beloved, He is not!

What could be a more pressing time of need than when the child of God has sinned and is facing the onslaught of Lucifer’s accusations? He tells us, if you do happen to fall into that snare, remember! You have an advocate…a Helper also with the Father in the Heavens. The accusations of Lucifer will not go unchallenged. Your Advocate with the Father in Heaven will speak also and He will lift you up with His words of Grace. Selah

His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the propitiation for our sins…He is the sweet smelling incense that has satisfied the wrath of God’s justice. Not only for the new creation, But indeed for the whole world! Glory to God!

The Father is not angry at His children!
He is not even angry at the world! Praise God!
Thank you Lord Jesus.

Selah.
