I Peter 4:1-4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
I will ask us to note also I Corinthians 15:34: Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. Selah
Notice where the emphasis is placed.
Notice also the background.
The church in Corinth at the time had many “sin issues”….the people were self-centered and divided. Many were babes and sin was so abundant in their midst that one had even slept with his father’s wife and seemed to lack remorse about it!
To this blatant expression of sin in the Corinthian church, we find here the crux of the Spirit’s admonition on how to overcome. Awaken! Awaken to righteousness and you will not sin! Glory to God!
How many of us have struggled with sin?…how many of us still do!
If only we will listen to and obey the Voice of His Word today! I tell you, that Word declares the same Truth to our generation today…..Awaken! Arm yourselves likewise!
For there is no other way to live consistently in righteous expressions without the plunge into the soundless depths of revelation…awaken to who you truly are as a new creation….awaken to the work of the man Jesus on the cross for you….awaken to the reality of His resurrection and ascension and the truth that today He is seated on the throne of God….And you in Him!!!
He suffered once because of sin…now He is seated far above the influence of sin and darkness…..arm yourself likewise with this mind!!
