1 Peter

but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts……

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

He tells us to sanctify the Lord God in our hearts always…this means to pay Him utmost reverence and worship; to walk always in His ways.

This goes beyond a simple acknowledging by faith of Who He is…what He does….how He does what He does. It suggests a deep understanding of the things of God…a call to which we have been invited to. A call to fellowship!

It reveals a deeper sounding of the depths of fellowship with Him. One that takes us wholly into the spiritual understanding of His ways, will and purposes…and gives us endowment with His Light so that we can tell others the reason for the hope we have in Him. Selah.

It also highlights the singular plane that unites reason and faith. He asks us to use one to make pronouncements on the other; and the other to shape and properly orient the one. Selah. He says that we should have a reason…an answer to every man who has a question for our hope. This is a call for light to shine always…for Reason to be bathe and drowned in Heavens Light! Selah

Through faith we embrace realities concealed in mysteries. But faith has its remit in realities that can be accepted and fully understood. For in Christ, the wellspring of our faith gushes out of the reality of the person, kingdom and Lordship of Jesus Christ awakened to; the Fatherhood of God embraced; and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit entered into.

It is from these bedrocks of realities that we can find reason….. we can communicate to all men to be born again, to walk in righteousness, to live in Agape above the selfish cry of self…to walk in fellowship with Deity!

Thus our responses must be garbed with reason enlightened by Heaven’s revelation and empowered by the fire of the Holy Spirit. Thus we must learn to communicate words that unify the twin realities of reason and faith…we must learn to wield the sword of truth with skill! To the end that our hearts may be truly endowed with His light to give an answer to searching humanity with the irresistible power of the Holy Spirit! Selah.

Let us of this generation walk in this light!

Glory to God!
