To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you [I Peter 1:4]
What did Jesus bequeath unto the new creation? What is He the surety of? Who is He the mediator and advocate of? To what inheritance are we born into as children of God? What is the birthright of the new creation?
Genesis recounts the story of a man who had no insight into the value of His birthright. He sold it for a fleeting moment of gratification. His name was Esau. Today, many of the children of God seem to be walking in the “spirit of Esau”…many do not have intimate insight into the value of their heritage in Christ. Many do not know this “inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away reserved in Heaven”
What is this inheritance?
His name is Jesus Christ. His Lordship and Kingdom is what we have come into. We have entered into the reality of Psalms 16:5 – The Lord has become the portion of our inheritance! He has become the cup of blessing we drink from…He has become the wells of hope we draw from. He is our inheritance!
Today, we have drunk in part of our portion in Him. At the close of the ages, we will enter into the fullness of our inheritance. This shall be the experience for us who are faithful and true to the calling…for us who awaken today, to the value of our inheritance, and live consistent with the heavenly vision.
The child of God is heir of God. He is joint heir with Christ. Therefore the Child of God has been offered a throne to reign with Christ for eternity. Therein lies the reality of the promise: “and we shall reign” Rev. 5:10; 22:5. This is the promise of a throne to take…one that we shall possess when we enter into the full load of our calling and position in Christ. This throne we must desire to take, at the end of this dispensation when the King shall return. Selah
Beloved, let us fix our gaze on this prize. Let us run, today, to attain this prize. Let us not continue in the folly of Esau…let us embrace our inheritance reserved in the heavens for us. It is the truest treasure. Unscathed by the ravages of time. Eternally undiminished…unfading…the Lordship and Kingdom of Jesus Christ and the throne of power He has bequeathed to His called out assembly. Selah
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Glory to God!
