Christ Jesus! Seal to the eternally binding new covenant

I Peter 1:2 KJV – Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

4. “unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ”

This reality draws from the portraits we see in Exodus 24 at the ratifying of the Mosaic covenant between God and the Jews. Moses read to the Jewish people all the Words of the covenant and the people answered saying  “all of these we will do” (paraphrased).

Then Moses wrote up all the words of the covenant and built an altar upon which the Jewish people offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings to YHWH…then Moses took the blood from the offerings and sprinkled half upon the altar and put the other half in a basin. Then he read to the Jewish people again all the words of the covenant, to which the people responded: “all the words of this book will we do”.

Then Moses took the blood in the basin and sprinkled it on the people and said “Behold! This is the blood of the covenant which YHWH has made with you concerning all these Words” Selah

This is the shadow we see fulfilled in Christ. For God made a covenant with the last Adam, Jesus Christ; which covenant was ratified by the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. This is the blood of sprinkling to which we have come to in Christ. It is seal to the eternally binding and immutable nature of the “new covenant”. It is seal that we have set our will to walk consistently with all that comes forth from the agreement. Selah. Hebrews Chapters 8 and 9; Hebrews 12:24, 13:20-21. Exodus 24.

These truths open up a world of other questions. Questions of which I will only ask today:
1. What is the new covenant?
2. Is the Church in covenant with God?

O may we always be anchored firmly in the unshakable foundations of Truth as it is revealed in Christ!
