1 Peter

Mighty God! what a Wonder You Are!

I Peter 1:2 KJV – Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

2. “according to the foreknowledge of God”

This is Truth resounded many times in Scripture. God has always known, and accepted as His, them who will come to be found in Christ. He knows because of His omniscience and foreknowledge. This does not mean man has no choice in the matter. God’s election by Grace does not make men passive participants in the call to Christ. This note must be made clear. God calls. Man chooses to respond.

God knows which men will respond. This foreknowledge does not nullify the will and choice of the person in the matter. Selah. God’s omniscience is because of His foreknowledge. God’s omniscience does not place on Him the ultimate responsibility for the outcomes of a person’s decisions. Man chooses. The omniscient God already knows which choice man will make. That foreknowledge of God does NOT nullify the will of any man.

For the truth is God will never force any man against his will. He is respecter of the sovereignty and will of man. This is the basis for His justice in judgment. God sees no man as a victim. For He jealously guides the power of will and choice of men; so that they that choose, can be held fully accountable for all the ramifications of their choices. If this were not so, God will be unjust in His judgment of man…especially fallen man at the last day.

If God’s foreknowledge usurped the will of man and made man an unwilling puppet to the desires of God, then God will be unjust in His judgments again. This will never happen. This is inconsistent with the scepter of righteousness with which He rules. Selah.

Remember, Romans 3:4
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.”

Glory to God! We stand in awe of the Omniscience of God and prostrate ourselves even more at His respect for the will of man…O Mighty God! What a Wonder You Are!!!
