Isaiah 50:4 , 5
4 The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,
to know the word that sustains the weary.
He wakens me morning by morning,
wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.
5 The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears;
I have not been rebellious,
I have not turned away.
O may our generation truly find this truth resplendent in us! May this weary world find in the children of light, a well instructed tongue! For the troubles that bring misery and attrition are well-nigh ubiquitous in this present cosmos…this life seems to have an insatiable penchant for darkness and disorder. This present world seems to have a death wish as it spirals all into entropy and despair.
Who will speak and tame the chaos?
Who will command the ceaseless mists of light and dispel the darkness?
Who will bring strength and hope and minister such to the weary and despondent?
Who will answer?
Who will dare answer?
I say let us look to the man whose tongue has been well instructed into wisdom by the Spirit of the Lord. Let us look for them whose spirits are connected to Infinite Wisdom Himself and whose ears are pressed close to His lips. Let us turn to the children of the Light who can answer! These are the ones who can speak order into chaos and tame entropy till it is innocuous. Let us look for such “burning lights”. Yea! Let us be such heavenly lights! Selah.
For the open invitation of the spirit still remains. The Teacher seeks for such as are of a ready heart and a willing mind to bring alive the entire oracles of YHWH. He seeks to bring all into the glorious light of the knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Teacher seeks to bring all in the kingdom of Light unto full sophistication into the mysteries of the firstborn. Selah.
Wisdom calls out in the thoroughfares of humanity’s concourse. He cries out to the many simple minds lost in the seeming purposeless of it all; He says come O you simple minds! Come be sophisticated in rarified plane of Wisdom! Come be endowed with the tongue of the learned!
Perhaps our generation stands most distinct from others on account of the fact that its pathos is evocative of dire need…dire need of the Light, shrouded by obstinate oblivion to this very vital need. Our generation has been so pummeled by the wrench of darkness it has mistaken its outrage for pleasure and its precipitous cliffs for the horizons of freedom. Our generation has the greatest need for the light to shine…for the learned tongues to speak….for the enlightened minds to influence and shape the landscape of thought; right and wrong, just and unjust, light and darkness.
To this demand let the children of light rise up obedient and supply. Let us rise up as them who wake up morning by morning to hear His Voice. Let us rise up as them who do not turn away from His instruction…them who are not rebellious…them who are instructed to speak a word in season to the weary travelers of this sojourn.
