When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory
Let us find in this verse a reason to obey the admonition that follows in the subsequent verses. Why must we mortify the expressions of the old man? Why must we live up to the fullness of the call? Well it is the glorious maranatha motif announced here again!
The King is coming soon! Ecce Venit!
And we must walk as sojourners for now, constantly having our gaze heaven ward…constantly walking in the consciousness of the imminent return of the Lord to complete this our salvation. For it is when He returns that all the expressions of the old man will be finally expunged…..when this body will put on immortality and our eyes will see Him – no longer through the veil – but face to face!
1 Corinthians 15:51-54
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
