Colossians 2:16-23 — 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— 21 “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Christianity is no religion. No! The multitudes who number this Life with the dead are sorely mistaken!
Religion is man’s thoughts, systems and rules seeking to please and connect to God. Christianity is the life and nature of God in a man…it is a call to highest fellowship with the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit.
There is nothing similar between dead religion and the call to walk in oneness with Jesus Christ. Religion tells fallen man in Adam to walk right; salvation in Christ brings the life and nature of God into a man and endows him with ability to walk right.
Religion is naught but an innocuous indulgence. Salvation in Christ thrusts a person into the power, glory and grace of the Lordship and Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Any man who truly fellowships with Jesus will be rubbed off with an indelible transformation. Not so for dead religion! Its strictest adherents have nothing to show for it but a form of godliness with no attending power to execute the purposes of the one true God! Selah
How long have we been paying tribute to religion and not Christ? How long have we rendered veneration to the carnal commandments that make the sacrosanct pedestals of vain and empty religion?
When shall we halt and offer true worship to Him who alone is worthy?
Beloved, extricate yourself from the embrace of religion. Do not be bound by it. Step out of that boat. There is pulsating life….invigorating power in the call to fellowship with the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. It is real! Compelling…forcefully real!
May our eyes be opened to feast in the beauty of the light. May we be truly “delivered” from the snare of dead religion. May we truly awaken to the reality of the Kingdom and Lordship of Jesus Christ!
