And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. [Mark 16:17,18]
Every child of God has been given the name of Jesus to live by. The name of Jesus belongs to you as much as your hand belongs to you; He gave us His name to use any day and anytime to make certain our advantage in this world.
It is worth noting that in the opening Scripture, Jesus did not say that those who believe shall follow after these signs. However, that is the case in Christendom today: many of God’s people seek after signs. This ought not to be so. He said these signs shall follow them that believe! If you are a believer, then these are the signs that should characterize your life. The believer doesn’t reach out after these signs, he reaches out with these signs! These signs are meant to be expressed by the believer to make the unbelievers believe also…therefore Scripture says “wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not…” I Corinthians 14:22
Furthermore, Jesus said “In my name…” which means it’s only in His name that these signs shall be made manifest. That means these signs can only be seen in the lives of them believers who choose to live in His name.
To live in the name of Jesus is to:
1. Understand that His name is above every other name. Philippians 2:10
2. Testify of His name. Hebrews 13:15
3. Do everything in His name. Colossians 3:17
The next time you are faced with a challenge of whatever magnitude, remember that the name of Jesus is above that challenge. Begin to testify of His name – that in His name you have the victory; in His name you overcome; in His name the cancer dies! Then your actions will be propelled to be in sync with your words. Step out boldly in his name celebrating your victory!
Remember, in His name there is no weakness, no defeat, no sickness or infirmity and no poverty. There’s strength in His name, ability in His name, power in His name, wisdom in His name and this name is yours today.
Stand on the authority given you in His name and live the higher life.
