Colossians

On what grounds is our “forgiveness of sins” founded on?

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
[Colossians 1:14]

On what grounds is our “forgiveness of sins” founded on?

Entirely on the shed blood of Jesus Christ! Ephesians 1:7. Colossians 1:14

This is the foundation on which the child of God has been positioned with respect to forgiveness of sins. This is the reason that makes it true the saying that “God in Christ has already forgiven the new creation all sins- past, present and future!”

Remember that forgiveness of sins is the bread of the children of the kingdom. God expects the righteous man to function righteously. When he falls short of this standard, the blood of Jesus has supplied grace that brings forgiveness and makes the child of God “unblameable in love constantly before the father” Colossians 1: 22. The sinner in Adam has no business asking forgiveness of sins. It has no context for him because God places no demand on the man with the nature of sin to walk righteously today. No! That will be an unjust expectation from God! Rather, God places on this man in Adam the opportunity and responsibility to receive grace and awaken to the lordship of Jesus Christ and be born again. Selah.
