Colossians · Exegesis of Light

Delivered!

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
[Colossians 1:13]

I love it when Scripture testifies of the risen Lord. How majestic His person. How beautiful His Name. The Lord Jesus Christ!

Colossians 1:13 tells us a remarkable reality today. He says, Jesus has delivered the Child of God from the authority and realm of darkness and has translated this same child of God into the sublime realm and authority of Light. Selah
What does this mean? When did this happen? How now should I walk in the light of this Truth?

I believe that the reason many of God’s children think and talk and function like they do today is entirely hinged on the measure of the Word they have awakened to. I think the crux of the Church’s problems today is centred around the acknowledgement of what is real and true….the definitions of such as found in Christ. No wonder Philemon 6 gives us that instruction…no wonder Romans 6:11 is sounded everyday by the Spirit…no wonder the core principle in I Corinthians 15:34 is so vital to our apprehension and expression of all that for which Christ apprehended us. Selah

Delivered he says. Emphatically so! By His death, burial and glorious resurrection, He has accomplished, beyond contestation, some key realities that we must see, awaken to and walk in:
Delivered from the just judgement of a Righteous God
Delivered from sin and death
Delivered from Lucifer

And delivered unto:
The realm of light….he calls it a translation, that is, a definite change in spiritual location, orientation and nature! Selah
We should ponder on these.

May the Spirit of Truth minister the depths of these realities to our thirsty hearts…may Grace come with these revelations to lift us up and gird us with strength to think, talk and walk consistent with these realities.

May the boundaries of our minds be widened further to embrace and divinely understand these realities…and may their truths be forever writ upon the tables of our heart with the ink of the Spirit…indelible and eternal.
